It is quicker and easier to post my updated fishing reports on Instagram so hopefully I'll be better about keeping that updated. I'll also post some helpful tips on how to improve your fly fishing on there, so if you're coming out for a trip it might be worth your time to look through those prior to your float. Since I'm both working as a nurse and a fishing guide these days I decided to guide only in a very limited capacity last year. With the hospital as crazy as it was, the uncertainty surrounding what the guide season, and a young child I decided to only guide my return clients that have fished with me for many <br />years. In 2021 I'll be back to guiding as normal in addition to my working as a nurse. This will give me 3-4 days a week in which to guide this summer. I'm very excited to get back to guiding this year. I was surprised by how much I missed guiding despite getting in a lot more personal fishing time.</span></p><p><span> With more free time I was able to get out and fish a lot more. 2020 was an exceptional big fish year for me. I managed to catch more fish and more big fish in a year than I think I ever had. Our rivers and lakes are in exceptional shape courtesy of many years now in which we've had a great snowpack and plenty of water. Based on our current snowpack and how much it's been snowing already in February, I expect that 2021 will be just as good a fishing as last year was.</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hoFAvPEAsRQ/YCshEMe4WHI/AAAAAAAAu2I/tDaSqzBeXs4JefuWP0F_G9FfJ8gD01ntQCPcBGAsYHg/s2514/FullSizeR_13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1680" data-original-width="2514" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hoFAvPEAsRQ/YCshEMe4WHI/AAAAAAAAu2I/tDaSqzBeXs4JefuWP0F_G9FfJ8gD01ntQCPcBGAsYHg/s320/FullSizeR_13.jpg" width="320" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kSn8v2SHRYU/YCsi7DjEaMI/AAAAAAAAu2k/tJWWkcLbC5EmpPiTM5tsyP40hsArfVLQgCPcBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_1278.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kSn8v2SHRYU/YCsi7DjEaMI/AAAAAAAAu2k/tJWWkcLbC5EmpPiTM5tsyP40hsArfVLQgCPcBGAsYHg/s320/IMG_1278.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4_skPwZ7aA8/YCsivfAfcBI/AAAAAAAAu2g/Ns9RIymB8i02PyF4EVBKnNsUeaxoLCxdwCPcBGAsYHg/s3162/OI000382%257E3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1586" data-original-width="3162" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4_skPwZ7aA8/YCsivfAfcBI/AAAAAAAAu2g/Ns9RIymB8i02PyF4EVBKnNsUeaxoLCxdwCPcBGAsYHg/s320/OI000382%257E3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9SwIIjt1bSM/YCsibTbbQLI/AAAAAAAAu2Y/L7FvN348l0kd4EIyoDthBp3LTYc-VyOlgCPcBGAsYHg/s4124/OI000009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2890" data-original-width="4124" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9SwIIjt1bSM/YCsibTbbQLI/AAAAAAAAu2Y/L7FvN348l0kd4EIyoDthBp3LTYc-VyOlgCPcBGAsYHg/s320/OI000009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8UdOr-0oOQ8/YCsiWOupBgI/AAAAAAAAu2U/2P7MT1GR_dc0EzuOXYeo0617FXXPkhKvACPcBGAsYHg/s4608/OI000011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="4608" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8UdOr-0oOQ8/YCsiWOupBgI/AAAAAAAAu2U/2P7MT1GR_dc0EzuOXYeo0617FXXPkhKvACPcBGAsYHg/s320/OI000011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /></div><p></p>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-76321971779086810502016-02-29T21:10:00.002-07:002016-02-29T21:11:15.059-07:00Blog Moving to JHtrout.comHi everyone. We've been having unseasonably warm weather in Jackson Hole and the local area so it felt appropriate to take a break from skiing and do some fishing. The weather was great and the fishing was excellent. We caught a good number of large browns and rainbows on both nymphs and streamers. The best nymphs were midges, san juans, small pink and orange scuds, and small baetis imitations. The best streamers were heavy jig style flies fished slow with a lifting, bouncing motion. We looked long and hard for any surface activity but it still seems to be just a bit early for the dry fly fishing. We did also see a few rainbows starting to build their redds in preparation for spawning. If you do see fish on any light/white gravel areas please do try to avoid walking on those areas and avoid fishing to the fish on the light gravel. This will help to preserve our future trout populations. However, if you drift your flies into the dark pockets downstream of these fish you can often capitalize on other rainbows and browns that are not in the process of spawning but are looking to eat what the spawning fish are kicking up. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LebPzG-Re-4/VsJXDz3JXtI/AAAAAAAAMgo/ej_5iov0u6s/s1600/P2130050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LebPzG-Re-4/VsJXDz3JXtI/AAAAAAAAMgo/ej_5iov0u6s/s320/P2130050.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-geUjFGi0oMg/VsJXF0Ot7ZI/AAAAAAAAMgs/QWthU1vZIp4/s1600/P2130042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-geUjFGi0oMg/VsJXF0Ot7ZI/AAAAAAAAMgs/QWthU1vZIp4/s320/P2130042.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6bHcqi_vXN0/VsJXHu08XZI/AAAAAAAAMgw/2w_eKZ0RhCU/s1600/P2130052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6bHcqi_vXN0/VsJXHu08XZI/AAAAAAAAMgw/2w_eKZ0RhCU/s320/P2130052.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UUafy9iLLAc/VsJXJaBlBQI/AAAAAAAAMg0/MzucZizNEO4/s1600/P2140054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UUafy9iLLAc/VsJXJaBlBQI/AAAAAAAAMg0/MzucZizNEO4/s320/P2140054.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yYlxpf3KK0w/VsJXKF96i_I/AAAAAAAAMg4/CQuTQgw0pbk/s1600/P2130046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yYlxpf3KK0w/VsJXKF96i_I/AAAAAAAAMg4/CQuTQgw0pbk/s320/P2130046.JPG" /></a></div>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-17963167326418297602016-02-09T14:10:00.000-07:002016-02-09T14:13:22.101-07:00Follow me on Instagram!I have finally joined the modern social media world and got myself an Instagram account. The secret is certainly out out on this river and its unlikely that you'll go without seeing at least another boat or two during a day's worth of fishing. When I started fishing the Green I would rarely ever see another boat down there, but unfortunately and inevitably word does get out. That's why I rarely write what river or lake I"m actually fishing when I write in this blog. Regardless of the pressure the fishing continues to be excellent if you know where to go and how to fish it.
The hatches were great this year and we had excellent flows for almost the entire year. Young trout recruitment should be excellent and the growth rates on fish for this upcoming year should be stellar. The fall fishing was excellent with big healthy trout being caught and even some large kokanee salmon, fair hooked in the mouth I might add. Quite often these fish aren't eating aggressively but sometimes, for whatever reason, you do find them taking flies, both nymph and streamer patterns.
I did have one particularly fun fall trip this year with my brother-in-law and a good buddy of ours. The fishing was good with both kokanee and trout being caught. Mostly nymph and streamer fishing but consistent action all the same. If you've never seen a kokanee salmon before they're a pretty cool fish. They're actually a landlocked sockeye salmon that turns the same bright red color after it enters the river. Just like in Alaska, whenever you find large groups of kokanee, as we do in many different rivers in our area, you tend to find trout adjacent to them. It can make for some pretty interesting fishing, mini-Alaska type fishing. <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t6icG4j1q_I/VqPLskKMISI/AAAAAAAAMcg/IWPxoDA9Rsc/s1600/P9110026.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t6icG4j1q_I/VqPLskKMISI/AAAAAAAAMcg/IWPxoDA9Rsc/s320/P9110026.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AefLs_AhHQo/VqPLuD_krII/AAAAAAAAMco/VMguL7PE16o/s1600/PA090029.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AefLs_AhHQo/VqPLuD_krII/AAAAAAAAMco/VMguL7PE16o/s320/PA090029.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SmZHJOZ-CUg/VqPLwGSYtEI/AAAAAAAAMcw/UvE82mR5tcE/s1600/PA090032.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SmZHJOZ-CUg/VqPLwGSYtEI/AAAAAAAAMcw/UvE82mR5tcE/s320/PA090032.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ywlKcOpPwmQ/VqPLyOiJE8I/AAAAAAAAMc4/QUiIDkp3vwY/s1600/PA100034.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ywlKcOpPwmQ/VqPLyOiJE8I/AAAAAAAAMc4/QUiIDkp3vwY/s320/PA100034.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TZ_7u2KavOI/VqPL0a1jw6I/AAAAAAAAMdA/TFPDtcRleS8/s1600/PA100038.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TZ_7u2KavOI/VqPL0a1jw6I/AAAAAAAAMdA/TFPDtcRleS8/s320/PA100038.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ou_IAuPTYqI/VqPL1fdHhNI/AAAAAAAAMdE/v0mpzntQ8sg/s1600/PA100040.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ou_IAuPTYqI/VqPL1fdHhNI/AAAAAAAAMdE/v0mpzntQ8sg/s320/PA100040.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-13899943732959287932016-01-11T18:42:00.000-07:002016-01-11T18:42:00.011-07:00Fall Summary It has been many months since I've written a report. It was a very busy fall and I will try to do a better job of keeping up with posts in the future. Our late summer and fall fishing was unbelievable this year, really some of the best I have ever seen. Consistent water flows all summer coupled with moderate water temperatures led to great fish growth and reliable feeding activity.
I spent most of my time this fall fishing specifically in the Jackson Hole and western Wyoming area with no major trips out of the area for me as a result of being in nursing school. The Snake river was exceptionally good this fall. I've been seeing higher numbers of the abnormally large fish in the snake over the past few years with a large number of big browns being caught. It seems like the closer you are to the dam the more likely you are to see some of those browns. The big cutthroat seem to be spread around throughout the river system. Here are some pictures of Snake river fish including 24 and 25 inch brown trout caught by Scott Smith (check out the like to his blog) in the same day. A client of mine had landed a 24inch brown on a beetle pattern in July, in the same location as Scott's fish, that I believe was actually the same fish that Scott ended up catching. I'll post some additional fall updates here shortly.

The Snake and the Salt Rivers are fishing very well. The Green river is still fishable, but the water level is very low and it can be difficult to get a boat down it without spooking all the fish. On the Snake River we've been fishing mostly PMD patterns and terrestrials, but the tricos should be starting soon. Streamers and nymph droppers are always effective, but we tend to fish primarily dries. Here's a picture of a good client of mine with a massive 21 inch Cutty that sipped a size 14 beetle on an inside turn earlier this week. I've also included a few other client pictures from the past week or two.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-avoKTDYrKAc/Vb5MPoB25xI/AAAAAAAAMUA/9yOpEkI0kv0/s1600/P7260001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-avoKTDYrKAc/Vb5MPoB25xI/AAAAAAAAMUA/9yOpEkI0kv0/s320/P7260001.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-84iwBU5PUHs/Vb5MQ0247UI/AAAAAAAAMUI/f_Dmo0nSKQk/s1600/P7260002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-84iwBU5PUHs/Vb5MQ0247UI/AAAAAAAAMUI/f_Dmo0nSKQk/s320/P7260002.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JL7kAwzJ-w8/Vb5MRSDhIdI/AAAAAAAAMUM/NXJSvJYHjss/s1600/P7280005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JL7kAwzJ-w8/Vb5MRSDhIdI/AAAAAAAAMUM/NXJSvJYHjss/s320/P7280005.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m-A-EXOye-E/Vb5MTSuvwSI/AAAAAAAAMUY/lJkwbrdxddc/s1600/P7280006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m-A-EXOye-E/Vb5MTSuvwSI/AAAAAAAAMUY/lJkwbrdxddc/s320/P7280006.JPG" /></a></div>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-37720940399791818102015-07-24T09:02:00.000-06:002015-07-24T09:02:06.107-06:007/24/15 The Snake is still fishing great. Dry fly action with stonefly patterns, caddis, and PMDs has been fantastic. The tricos are just starting on both the Snake and Green rivers and should provide some excellent technical dry fly fishing. Most of my trips recently have been on the Snake River with some quality fishing and a few more large fish starting to show up. I haven't been to the Green in the past week but it should be starting to pick up as the water levels drop and both the tricos and yellow sallies get going.<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RQtgThy7Xqw/VbJTCQXrMVI/AAAAAAAAMS8/Fr_0HkODTG0/s1600/P7140065.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RQtgThy7Xqw/VbJTCQXrMVI/AAAAAAAAMS8/Fr_0HkODTG0/s320/P7140065.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gRRV-u9X5RA/VbJTDZfrEyI/AAAAAAAAMTE/pZH9iRfhq4Y/s1600/P7140067.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gRRV-u9X5RA/VbJTDZfrEyI/AAAAAAAAMTE/pZH9iRfhq4Y/s320/P7140067.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Bh71RcEs98/VbJTPBglz-I/AAAAAAAAMTM/0SJTPPX1dk8/s1600/P1000996.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Bh71RcEs98/VbJTPBglz-I/AAAAAAAAMTM/0SJTPPX1dk8/s320/P1000996.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-52763880859491990042015-07-18T22:13:00.000-06:002015-07-18T22:13:37.523-06:007/18/15 Fishing has been great recently with much of the best action being on the Snake River. It's full on dry fly season at this point with only the occasional nymph dropper. The best combo has been a larger stonefly dry with a smaller mayfly or caddis imitation off the back. My apologies for the brief update, I'll try to get a more detailed one out soon. Thanks to Shelby Stone for sending these pictures from his family's trip on the Snake river with me. <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M9ZyLGx5w1E/Vasjyxo4aaI/AAAAAAAAMN0/hmGySmjujLo/s1600/IMG_1778.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M9ZyLGx5w1E/Vasjyxo4aaI/AAAAAAAAMN0/hmGySmjujLo/s320/IMG_1778.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RgT4CpezZys/Vasj0n-T_CI/AAAAAAAAMN8/Qb51l_qt1lU/s1600/IMG_5822.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RgT4CpezZys/Vasj0n-T_CI/AAAAAAAAMN8/Qb51l_qt1lU/s320/IMG_5822.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tSHghokcfmw/Vasj4Bq91JI/AAAAAAAAMOE/SIrnwKabmNI/s1600/IMG_6296.png" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tSHghokcfmw/Vasj4Bq91JI/AAAAAAAAMOE/SIrnwKabmNI/s320/IMG_6296.png" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-79701782279186579842015-07-05T21:38:00.000-06:002015-07-05T21:38:31.063-06:007/5/15 I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! I was fortunate enough to have a good buddy in from out of town and my family visiting from Colorado. I was able to take my buddy JB and my father out fishing for a few days, something that we don't get to do as often as I would like. Fortunately our fishing was very good. We had excellent dry fly sight fishing for some quality browns and rainbows.
As far as the rivers go, the Snake ans Salt rivers have been fishing really well with both dries and nymph droppers. The fishing has been getting better on a daily basis and we're starting to catch some bigger fish. The rivers flows have been great recently and the fishing should continue to improve as long as the flows remain stable. The Green is still fishing well with a consistent gray drake and PMD hatch, but the water is beginning to warm up later in the day. This means we've been getting on the river earlier in the day and getting off a little earlier after the fishing has slowed down and the water has warmed up. This way we're hitting the prime fishing times and avoiding stressing the fish when the water gets up in the upper 60 degree range.<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6ZzTIAfp6Vs/VZn3-ckAd9I/AAAAAAAAMMI/faJVbrFabM8/s1600/P7030055.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6ZzTIAfp6Vs/VZn3-ckAd9I/AAAAAAAAMMI/faJVbrFabM8/s320/P7030055.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rus2rOrfBCI/VZn3_PwPzFI/AAAAAAAAMMM/WuuHOb7g6BA/s1600/P7030057.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rus2rOrfBCI/VZn3_PwPzFI/AAAAAAAAMMM/WuuHOb7g6BA/s320/P7030057.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KaC1ZXzRM4w/VZn4HBXM8fI/AAAAAAAAMMY/bxqsUrrjeTg/s1600/P7040059.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KaC1ZXzRM4w/VZn4HBXM8fI/AAAAAAAAMMY/bxqsUrrjeTg/s320/P7040059.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vQR28s2phVQ/VZn4HhfDq-I/AAAAAAAAMMg/CyxttOTuJC8/s1600/P7040060.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vQR28s2phVQ/VZn4HhfDq-I/AAAAAAAAMMg/CyxttOTuJC8/s320/P7040060.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBBaPLZAd74/VZn4J-Wv_VI/AAAAAAAAMMo/xIGwBSjPHl4/s1600/P7030058.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBBaPLZAd74/VZn4J-Wv_VI/AAAAAAAAMMo/xIGwBSjPHl4/s320/P7030058.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-32584582022848546502015-06-27T22:30:00.000-06:002015-06-27T22:30:52.309-06:006/27/15Fishing has turned on in a big way. I've been slammed so I don't have much time to write a report, but the fishing on all the rivers that I fish has been excellent. We're fishing mostly dries at this point and catching some big fish. Here are some pictures from the past few weeks, I also have some great video but need to try and process it to be posted.<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2sWQIZSXrYo/VY94STfWX0I/AAAAAAAAMIs/NdyJCNPeje4/s1600/P6240044.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2sWQIZSXrYo/VY94STfWX0I/AAAAAAAAMIs/NdyJCNPeje4/s320/P6240044.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TypvpkZSehE/VY94Y8Mc5-I/AAAAAAAAMI0/xqtqFVfNzv4/s1600/P6240046.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TypvpkZSehE/VY94Y8Mc5-I/AAAAAAAAMI0/xqtqFVfNzv4/s320/P6240046.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PFuyjxhe_u0/VY94aaONzAI/AAAAAAAAMI8/lAzvwkffzMQ/s1600/P6240047.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PFuyjxhe_u0/VY94aaONzAI/AAAAAAAAMI8/lAzvwkffzMQ/s320/P6240047.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-35953730075394019052015-06-12T18:47:00.000-06:002015-06-12T18:50:39.329-06:00June 12th The fishing options have been a bit limited in our area recently. The recent heavy rains have caused the majority of the Snake, Green, and and Salt Rivers to be blown out. The Firehole has been abnormally warm and is not fishing well due to that. The bright spots have been both Lewis Lake and the upper portion of the Snake below Jackson Lake Dam. Both of these areas have been fishing well, with the dry fly fishing really starting to pick up. I've been on the upper Snake for the past five days with good success on both stonefly patterns and smaller mayfly imitations. These areas should continue to improve everyday and hopefully the Green and Salt rivers will begin to clear here shortly. Some of these pictures are from up by the dam, some of the others are from a coupled weeks ago before runoff blew out many of our rivers.<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w373s-A1ihk/VXt9VIlw86I/AAAAAAAAMC0/id-_GogK-Jk/s1600/P5190008.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w373s-A1ihk/VXt9VIlw86I/AAAAAAAAMC0/id-_GogK-Jk/s320/P5190008.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s1-ecVZ_b54/VXt9aAvv0iI/AAAAAAAAMC8/BFxol-aDDKA/s1600/P5050028.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s1-ecVZ_b54/VXt9aAvv0iI/AAAAAAAAMC8/BFxol-aDDKA/s320/P5050028.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nzb3GXdniiA/VXt9h5V8BTI/AAAAAAAAMDM/EjiX5bv9HnE/s1600/P5050022.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nzb3GXdniiA/VXt9h5V8BTI/AAAAAAAAMDM/EjiX5bv9HnE/s320/P5050022.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O7C_8GVeKvA/VXt9f5RuZII/AAAAAAAAMDE/iJS4k2kAXEs/s1600/P5050025.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O7C_8GVeKvA/VXt9f5RuZII/AAAAAAAAMDE/iJS4k2kAXEs/s320/P5050025.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EP2hYPm7yBs/VXt9jadhy-I/AAAAAAAAMDU/EWb4tJjmIwg/s1600/P5050014.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EP2hYPm7yBs/VXt9jadhy-I/AAAAAAAAMDU/EWb4tJjmIwg/s320/P5050014.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-42350691282565608522015-05-12T22:00:00.000-06:002015-05-12T22:00:22.007-06:00May Morels Hunting, Shed Hunting, and Lake Trout Fishing! May is a great time of year in our area. There are so many different fun things to do and the weather can feel like summer. Some buddies and I have spent some time hunting elk sheds and collecting morel mushrooms in the area. I've been fortunate enough to find a few nice elk sheds and tons of morels this year. In one day, a buddy and I managed to collect 21lbs 5oz of morel mushrooms, a personal best for me. If you've never tried these mushrooms you're doing yourself an injustice. They are incredible whether sauteed alone or paired with elk or beef steaks.
As far as the fishing goes, Jackson lake has been spectacular. The ice just recently came off of the lake and we've been crushing Macks since then. These Mackinaw trout will eat both flies and lures with bright colored flies and lures in the 3-5 inch range tending to be the best. These fish are really shallow at the moment and we've been able to sight fish to them in 2-6ft of water. Its kinda like flats fishing in a large, cold, northern Wyoming lake. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aleX62tkG24/VVLMLpB8NpI/AAAAAAAALtc/9WLbCVddhow/s1600/IMG952266.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aleX62tkG24/VVLMLpB8NpI/AAAAAAAALtc/9WLbCVddhow/s320/IMG952266.jpg" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tMKGOAnsdEo/VVLMN3uyc_I/AAAAAAAALtk/obO0tfox96M/s1600/IMG_452922478.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tMKGOAnsdEo/VVLMN3uyc_I/AAAAAAAALtk/obO0tfox96M/s320/IMG_452922478.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LsWufEJwVgw/VVLMPpqSUrI/AAAAAAAALts/v6y91F5W7Io/s1600/IMG_452814032.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LsWufEJwVgw/VVLMPpqSUrI/AAAAAAAALts/v6y91F5W7Io/s320/IMG_452814032.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z6EEbiUOCfQ/VVLMRVb5vZI/AAAAAAAALt0/deGZAFTxvxQ/s1600/IMG_452194324.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z6EEbiUOCfQ/VVLMRVb5vZI/AAAAAAAALt0/deGZAFTxvxQ/s320/IMG_452194324.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-79426342146881138342015-05-06T21:40:00.000-06:002015-05-06T21:40:07.811-06:00Great Spring Fishing/Trip Advisor Reviews Fishing has been absolutely fantastic the past few weeks. I've had a couple good trips recently with excellent fishing. My last one was with a fellow guide, <a href="http://joshgallivan.com/">Josh Gallivan</a>. If you haven't checked out his website I would highly recommend you take a look at it. This guy is a top notch fisherman with a great personality. Josh is someone who I trust enough to many of my overflow clients to all summer.
We went on a two day, overnight camping trip and had a blast. The fishing was great with nymphing being the most productive, some solid dry fly action resulting in some large Colorado River Cutthroat, and some big fish chasing streamers. The first fish of our trip was actually a 23 inch brown trout that ate Josh's articulated streamer.
On a side note, if any past clients are reading this, I would really appreciate a trip advisor review if anyone has the time to write one. Here's a link where you can post reviews, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60491-d1818355-Reviews-or10-JH_Trout_Fly_Fishing-Jackson_Jackson_Hole_Wyoming.html#REVIEWS. If anyone has given a review an is reading this, thank you so much, every review is a a huge help to my business. Being an individual guide it is difficult to keep up with enough reviews to stay relevant compared to the larger companies with many guides.
I'll try to keep the reports coming and keep everyone updated on the fishing and runoff conditions.

Unfortunately the fishing was pretty slow and we had a guide who, while he understood fish behavior, had terrible people skills and was unpleasant to fish with. We did manage a few fish including a nice barracuda and a solid tarpon.

My apologies for my delay in posting, I’ve been busy trying to get into nursing school and was unsure of what my guiding schedule would be like for the year. I now know what nursing program I will be attending and I can safely book trips this summer through August. I may be able to guide a number of trips this September, but it will depend on the dates so please contact me if you do have any interest.
Fishing in the area has been excellent recently. I was just out on the Snake yesterday and the river was alive with activity. The fish are keying in on midday hatches of Skwala Stoneflies, midges, and some blue winged olives mixed in. We’re getting a good amount of surface activity with the fish podding up to feed. We’ve had some great sight fishing recently, both with dry flies and sight nymphing. You can pull into area and see the fished stacked up, often hanging a couple feet below the surface. I’ve been fishing to these fish with dry dropper rigs, sometimes they eat the dry and sometimes they eat the nymph, but either way it’s a very visual experience. The fishing should stay good until runoff hits, so if you can get out there now I would do it.
As far as my recent fishing goes it has been largely focused on the Snake. I wish that I been able to fish some other rivers in the area, but I’ve been busy with other things. I did get to spend the last few weeks traveling around Thailand on my belated honeymoon. My wife and I had a great time and she even let me spend a day fly fishing in Thailand. I had initially wanted to fish Cheow Lan Lake, a large reservoir located in a national park in Thailand, for Giant Snakeheads, but in talking to the guide service in the area it sounded like it was a very poor time of year for it. Instead, a friend of mine who also happened to be in Thailand on his honeymoon, joined me for a day of lake fishing for some introduced, non-native species. It was a great experience but not what I would consider an incredibly wild and sporting trip. They have these ponds that, at one point in time, were stocked with these Amazonian Red-Tailed catfish and Arapima. These fish have since done quite well in the lake and have grown to impressive sizes with some of the Arapima reaching over 200lbs. Unfortunately we weren’t able to land any of the Arapima, we would see them roll with some frequency and gulp air off the surface, my buddy did manage to hook one but it ended up throwing the hook. We did manage to catch quite a few of the Red-tailed catfish that were in the lake including some large specimens. I managed to get one that was around 45lbs and my buddy Pat landed one that weighed in at 25 kilos which is about 55lbs. I’ll try to post some pictures as soon as I get them off of Pat’s camera.
Right now I’m off to the Florida Keys to do a little tarpon fishing with my Dad before the guide season really picks up. That’s the beauty of the off-season in Jackson, everything shuts down so you have a lot of time to travel around. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I’ll be able to post some pictures of some nice tarpon on the fly and maybe some trout fishing pictures from the Jackson area. I hope everyone is enjoying their spring weather and I’ll see you this summer!

Its been over two months since I've posted, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't been a busy fall. We had some excellent fall fishing, both great river fishing and stellar lake trout fishing on Jackson Lake. The river fish were all incredibly healthy given the solid water flows of the past year. We should have very good survival rates this winter and some very large and healthy fish in the rivers next summer. We had some great streamer fishing, I've got a particularly heavy streamer that was killer as long as you could throw it without hurting yourself, and I worked hard learning how to nymph more effectively on some of our smaller creeks that we can only float. Nymphing small rivers from a boat is a very difficult skill, but can be quite productive once you get it dialed in.

I really got into elk hunting more this year than I had in the past. This year I actually spent more time fishing than hunting during the fall season. We saw elk almost every time we were out but had difficulty getting one of the right gender into shooting range. It seemed like every time we got into a shooting situation it was either bulls in a cow only area or cows in a bulls only area. I finally did get one a few days ago. It was a large cow, finally in a cows only area, and wasn't until 1pm on my final hunting day of the season. It was really an 11th hour elk. I don't have a picture to post of it because both my hunting buddy and I dropped one at the same time so we had a ton of work and hiking to do to get both elk out before it was pitch black. Despite all the frustrations it was a really great hunt and they were good clean kills. As much as I do love hunting I hate to see the animals suffer so a good quick kill always makes me feel a little better.
A buddy and I did take a trip down to the islands during November. The fishing was really good the first day because the weather and the wind cooperated but it was pretty tough after that. It essentially blew a constant 25-30mph with gusts 35-40mph and rain/clouds every day. Those conditions made for very difficult flats fishing. We had planned to camp for the week but after a few nights of waking up, laying in standing rain water and being molested my sandflies, we decided to bag it and stay in a hotel. We actually saw a fair number of large bonefish but with the conditions we wouldn't be able to see them until they were right next to us. We caught some large triggerfish, caught some bones (not many), saw a permit, hooked numerous sharks, caught a few snapper/grouper, and actually had the best success with some large tarpon. It was a fun trip but the fishing could have been much better if the weather had cooperated.

Most all of the rivers in the area are fishing very well. The Snake River has been dropped down to its winter flow levels and is fishing very well in the low water. We're getting some great baetis and mahogany hatches on the Snake and have had excellent midday dry fly fishing. Just the other day I did have a client catch a massive 21 inch cutty on a dry fly, this was one of the fattest, healthiest fish I have ever seen in the Snake River. Streamers have also been very effective on all of our rivers if you can fish them properly. Some of our other smaller rivers are also fishing very well, low water just becomes an issue on these rivers this time of year, especially if you need to float the rivers. The guiding season has begun to fall off as it usually does in October so some of the guides and I have been fishing a little bit more. As long as the weather continues to hold and be beautiful the fishing should continue to be excellent. <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0HIh9ba7YnY/VDVs4ACixdI/AAAAAAAAJ0c/aSu1S3P7EaM/s1600/P1010013.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0HIh9ba7YnY/VDVs4ACixdI/AAAAAAAAJ0c/aSu1S3P7EaM/s320/P1010013.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oIkA0qS-1aU/VDVs0iPegXI/AAAAAAAAJ0U/1o9kDEEpjtc/s1600/P1010011.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oIkA0qS-1aU/VDVs0iPegXI/AAAAAAAAJ0U/1o9kDEEpjtc/s320/P1010011.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cl3t4jEXUQg/VDVt1J0mS7I/AAAAAAAAJ0w/ySw4hdgv6uc/s1600/P1000983.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cl3t4jEXUQg/VDVt1J0mS7I/AAAAAAAAJ0w/ySw4hdgv6uc/s320/P1000983.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A9ZkvUugCFw/VDVt6foR_uI/AAAAAAAAJ04/01tBFh-0WY8/s1600/P1010003.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A9ZkvUugCFw/VDVt6foR_uI/AAAAAAAAJ04/01tBFh-0WY8/s320/P1010003.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YRgH3o3ieQQ/VDVt916kQNI/AAAAAAAAJ1A/HbPC6-SLV1k/s1600/P1010005.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YRgH3o3ieQQ/VDVt916kQNI/AAAAAAAAJ1A/HbPC6-SLV1k/s320/P1010005.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ztlPCZJIjug/VDVt_dyFmkI/AAAAAAAAJ1I/1LQiSWpoksU/s1600/P1010006.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ztlPCZJIjug/VDVt_dyFmkI/AAAAAAAAJ1I/1LQiSWpoksU/s320/P1010006.JPG" /></a> nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-8035374084698445402014-08-20T17:14:00.000-06:002014-08-20T17:14:54.957-06:008/17/14 I'm sorry that it has been so long since I've posted. I've been extremely busy and the fishing has been on fire. I haven't seen the Snake River fish this well in a number of years. The Snake River is currently flowing at 2000cfs out of the dam, for comparison, this time last year the Snake River was flowing at 4500cfs. The Snake River fishes best at lower water levels and the past few high water years have created some very larger and healthy cutthroats in the river system. The dry fly fishing has been excellent and we have been using some nymph droppers to pick up some of the pickier fish.
I haven't been off the Snake very often recently, but I do hear that both the South Fork and the Salt river are fishing quite well. I was down on the Green river a few days ago. It fished well for us but it did require very precise casting with reach casts being key. We caught a number of very nice fish but it was tough work and did shut down later in the day.

Fishing in the area has been stellar, we've had great dry fly activity and I haven't had to use an indicator nymphing rig in quite a while. Most rivers are fishing well at this point, the Snake has been very good up near the dam and is clearing up further down. Here are a few pictures from the past week, some of the larger fish are up to 21.5 inches long.<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bjb_I-SxXFI/U8iZyUg5uLI/AAAAAAAAJLQ/kUvHFi6pv_g/s1600/DSC_0202.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bjb_I-SxXFI/U8iZyUg5uLI/AAAAAAAAJLQ/kUvHFi6pv_g/s320/DSC_0202.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WhZlxqlderE/U8iZzswNHmI/AAAAAAAAJLY/YEbs9ZOjNRg/s1600/DSC_0210.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WhZlxqlderE/U8iZzswNHmI/AAAAAAAAJLY/YEbs9ZOjNRg/s320/DSC_0210.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TQM9evZLOG8/U8iZ-nCqVyI/AAAAAAAAJLg/-N2H-PT6Iu4/s1600/P1000940.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TQM9evZLOG8/U8iZ-nCqVyI/AAAAAAAAJLg/-N2H-PT6Iu4/s320/P1000940.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ad3w6-hF9q4/U8iaGdkr21I/AAAAAAAAJLo/0LCkMnNNeR8/s1600/P1000945.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ad3w6-hF9q4/U8iaGdkr21I/AAAAAAAAJLo/0LCkMnNNeR8/s320/P1000945.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIOIu7808M8/U8iaHzuhfvI/AAAAAAAAJLw/l_ctrGOqWvw/s1600/P1000950.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIOIu7808M8/U8iaHzuhfvI/AAAAAAAAJLw/l_ctrGOqWvw/s320/P1000950.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SPswg36KMnk/U8iaH7cglXI/AAAAAAAAJL0/nLw1C-5ta9Y/s1600/P1000952.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SPswg36KMnk/U8iaH7cglXI/AAAAAAAAJL0/nLw1C-5ta9Y/s320/P1000952.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-81858945623959595062014-07-11T21:41:00.002-06:002014-07-11T21:41:57.519-06:00&/11/14Fishing in the area is finally starting to catch fire. There are some many options at this time of year... its truely one of my favorite times to be guiding. We've had some excellent fishing days recently and caught some great fish. I was on the Salt with Lew Ofstein and caught some amazing fish entirely on dries. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LDj1TpahcBk/U8CrQQGpBSI/AAAAAAAAJGs/vNaIUt3eiDA/s1600/Lew+Salt.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LDj1TpahcBk/U8CrQQGpBSI/AAAAAAAAJGs/vNaIUt3eiDA/s320/Lew+Salt.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_Rkubt6Xv0s/U8CrSm4aygI/AAAAAAAAJG0/w3WLCExv1LQ/s1600/Lew+Salt+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_Rkubt6Xv0s/U8CrSm4aygI/AAAAAAAAJG0/w3WLCExv1LQ/s320/Lew+Salt+2.jpg" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LwjqaRHpIQY/U8CrUtregJI/AAAAAAAAJG8/bcB8PQ8rKgI/s1600/Lew+Salt+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LwjqaRHpIQY/U8CrUtregJI/AAAAAAAAJG8/bcB8PQ8rKgI/s320/Lew+Salt+3.jpg" /></a> I've also had some excellent fishing on other rivers the past week or so. Take a look at these two pictures and the scar on this 21.5 inch rainbow's tail... think it's the same fish?<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TF39X8mt68s/U8CsuamtDvI/AAAAAAAAJHY/ObutQBDLwgg/s1600/DSC_0230.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TF39X8mt68s/U8CsuamtDvI/AAAAAAAAJHY/ObutQBDLwgg/s320/DSC_0230.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R6fketiPl_c/U8Cs8vgXCJI/AAAAAAAAJHg/hO2OaHTzM2I/s1600/P1000925.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R6fketiPl_c/U8Cs8vgXCJI/AAAAAAAAJHg/hO2OaHTzM2I/s320/P1000925.JPG" /></a> This same client also landed a 23.5 inch rainbow, the second time I've landed this fish, but unfortunately droppped the fish before a good picture was taken. I've included a picture of the fish being netted, Kirk trying to lift the fish, and what the fish would have looked like. Its a shame we didn't get a good picture but with was still and amazing catch! <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LZlE1L0U2Co/U8Ct914cPQI/AAAAAAAAJHs/6XEgEJdOCXA/s1600/DSC_0252.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LZlE1L0U2Co/U8Ct914cPQI/AAAAAAAAJHs/6XEgEJdOCXA/s320/DSC_0252.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SPY7mZUxJlA/U8CuGGysWiI/AAAAAAAAJH0/owEF9DIrz-U/s1600/DSC_0253.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SPY7mZUxJlA/U8CuGGysWiI/AAAAAAAAJH0/owEF9DIrz-U/s320/DSC_0253.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yktKiH2Vg3o/U8CuKMdBsKI/AAAAAAAAJH8/fLxy9Kf4qRM/s1600/P1000916.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yktKiH2Vg3o/U8CuKMdBsKI/AAAAAAAAJH8/fLxy9Kf4qRM/s320/P1000916.JPG" /></a> I hope to have the next day or two off here so hopefully I'll get to go spend some time fishing with friends. Hopefully I'll have some good new pictures in the next few days.nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-49475380312564978112014-07-05T20:18:00.000-06:002014-07-05T20:18:15.449-06:00July 5th, 2014Things are picking up here in the Jackson area. The Green and south Fork have both been fishing very well with good hatches of just about everything. The Green has yellow sallies, grey drakes, golden stones, caddis and PMDs. The South Fork has all of those same hatches but also has salmonflies. Unfortunately the South Fork has been fishing better with nymphs than with dries and has been very crowded. I just had a great two days with some folks that flew down from Big Timber, MT. They were great company and some very good fishermen. Here are a few pictures from the past few days, the largest fish is a rainbow that was a little bit over 21 inches, caught on a greay drake dry fly pattern. <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JCWz_EM-F5M/U7ixorXJl8I/AAAAAAAAI-E/rM7-zA8DDhU/s1600/P1000923.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JCWz_EM-F5M/U7ixorXJl8I/AAAAAAAAI-E/rM7-zA8DDhU/s320/P1000923.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLnJ1lnmltg/U7ixu3br0kI/AAAAAAAAI-M/NneRF0Pf_YQ/s1600/P1000928.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLnJ1lnmltg/U7ixu3br0kI/AAAAAAAAI-M/NneRF0Pf_YQ/s320/P1000928.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PCwUCtIZGPw/U7ixwyQy7AI/AAAAAAAAI-U/YTZi47w2fTE/s1600/P1000930.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PCwUCtIZGPw/U7ixwyQy7AI/AAAAAAAAI-U/YTZi47w2fTE/s320/P1000930.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1yZWr1IXyCo/U7ix2s7BPDI/AAAAAAAAI-g/Xl4lPzMyPhU/s1600/P1000931.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1yZWr1IXyCo/U7ix2s7BPDI/AAAAAAAAI-g/Xl4lPzMyPhU/s320/P1000931.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nNL1cXy7tvU/U7ix2novwCI/AAAAAAAAI-c/Yh7uso56W6A/s1600/P1000925.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nNL1cXy7tvU/U7ix2novwCI/AAAAAAAAI-c/Yh7uso56W6A/s320/P1000925.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-41366290764506457612014-06-24T19:41:00.001-06:002014-06-24T19:41:15.055-06:006/24/14The fishing has been picking up in a serious way here recently. I've stopped fishing the Firehole at this point because of warmer waters and because the rivers in our area have begun to fish better. The Snake is beginning to clear and fish with the Snake right below the dam pretty clear at this point in time but the lower river getting the better hatches. The Green and South Fork are also fishing well, primarily with nymphs and streamers but with some dry fly fishing starting to pick up. A buddy of mine caught this massive fish on Sunday while we were floating. The fish initially looked at his indicator then dropped down in the water column and ate his nymph. <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7-1j8wQ5Pmk/U6oogXdbZBI/AAAAAAAAI4U/1BaJEXOKt9g/s1600/P1000917.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7-1j8wQ5Pmk/U6oogXdbZBI/AAAAAAAAI4U/1BaJEXOKt9g/s320/P1000917.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ioeXJDuRuk4/U6oojjo0jzI/AAAAAAAAI4k/G1yApGQuvww/s1600/P1000922.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ioeXJDuRuk4/U6oojjo0jzI/AAAAAAAAI4k/G1yApGQuvww/s320/P1000922.JPG" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-owAB_yBfOGQ/U6ooh3HLpnI/AAAAAAAAI4c/XHSvQRHtoyQ/s1600/P1010183.jpeg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-owAB_yBfOGQ/U6ooh3HLpnI/AAAAAAAAI4c/XHSvQRHtoyQ/s320/P1010183.jpeg" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169638113218831732.post-84512773569273067772014-06-13T12:18:00.002-06:002014-06-13T12:18:58.741-06:006/13/14 Sorry for the long time between posting. Unfortunately we're dealing with high water conditions in the area so there hasn't been a whole lot to write about. There has been some great fishing on some local lakes, ones that can't be guided on, but the rivers are still very high. I've been guiding on the Firehole up in Yellowstone quite a bit, the fishing has been excellent up there but the weather has been pretty poor. I was supposed to be up there today but the forcast was for sustained heavy winds with gusts up to 37 mph so we decided to cancel.
When the weather has cooperated, the dry fly and nymph dropper fishing has been excellent for the browns and rainbows in the Firehole. The prime fishing window has been from about 10am until when it tapers off around 2-3pm.
The Green, New Fork, and South Fork should be fishing here shortly. The flows are dropping and the rivers have begun to clear. It won't be long until we're having excellent fishing on those rivers. I'll try to keep you all updated as that happens.<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MznrIIu3pj8/U5s_nu2lZ7I/AAAAAAAAI0Q/9-bb4xfcQgY/s1600/P1000889.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MznrIIu3pj8/U5s_nu2lZ7I/AAAAAAAAI0Q/9-bb4xfcQgY/s320/P1000889.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycnYAO-03iE/U5s_uprN-pI/AAAAAAAAI0Y/KtuVBXy-60g/s1600/P1000892.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycnYAO-03iE/U5s_uprN-pI/AAAAAAAAI0Y/KtuVBXy-60g/s320/P1000892.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RaCpPBbvAaQ/U5s_xeNkZ3I/AAAAAAAAI0g/KGksGDFZvYk/s1600/P1000895.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RaCpPBbvAaQ/U5s_xeNkZ3I/AAAAAAAAI0g/KGksGDFZvYk/s320/P1000895.JPG" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0Jc8kDdXTbQ/U5s_zE4GrgI/AAAAAAAAI0o/f6K63KUtYoY/s1600/P1000901.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0Jc8kDdXTbQ/U5s_zE4GrgI/AAAAAAAAI0o/f6K63KUtYoY/s320/P1000901.JPG" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DZOIGvCH-Cs/U5s_1tfyNEI/AAAAAAAAI0w/xpwGUVrf1KU/s1600/P1000903.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DZOIGvCH-Cs/U5s_1tfyNEI/AAAAAAAAI0w/xpwGUVrf1KU/s320/P1000903.JPG" /></a>nbc4784@gmail.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11916084255453592054noreply@blogger.com0
