Runoff is going full speed ahead right now. This means that the local freestone rivers are totally blown out right now and lakes are the best option. Now is the time of year I go up to some of the lakes in Grand Teton Nat'l Park and harvest a bunch of macks (lake trout). These fish are very aggressive and considered invasive in much of the area so they're a good fish to put in the freezer. The fishign for these guys has been excellent with lots of fish in water as shallow as 2-6ft. That's very shallow for a fish that spends much of its life 60+ feet down.

My dad and brother just got back from a great trip with my uncles to Canada. They caught a ton of northern pike and smallmouth bass. The biggest pike was 34 inches and the biggest smallie was a 5 lb 7oz fish. That's a new family record for us.
